According to MicroMetrics, OTAs now have access to more than 99 percent of the world’s hotel inventory. This, alone, isn’t such a startling thought, but then consider that the Priceline Group and Expedia Inc. are predicted to collectively control 94 percent of all online bookings by 2020 and the figures quickly start to become sobering. In Spain, which this year ranked as the world’s most tourist-ready economy, the numbers interestingly tell a different story.
