JOB TITLE: Design and Architecture – Interior Design Manager

REPORTS TO: Design and Architecture – Director

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Interact with hotel departments, architects, contractors, and consultants
  • Space planning using AutoCAD, Revit, or hand sketching
  • Project coordination/management and compilation of project criteria
  • Ensure adherence to project timeline, budget, and quality standards
  • Comprehensive review of consultant documentation such as presentations, plans, and specifications to identify potential operational concerns, budget impacts, and adherence to brand standards
  • Conduct site visits and provide in-the-field trouble shooting/problem solving
  • Review and respond to construction submittals including, but not limited to, lighting package submissions, plumbing fixture packages, millwork drawings, stone and tile shop drawings, and contractor supplied finishes
  • Respond to Construction RFI’s
  • Oversee manufacturers of custom furniture, custom lighting, upholstery, window treatments, custom carpet, and millwork
  • Preparation of specifications for Owner supplied FF&E items with knowledge of appropriate materials, dimensions, construction methods, fire codes, and ADA code compliance
  • Detailed review of FF&E submittals including furniture shop drawings, light fixture shop drawings, prototypes, and finish samples
  • Knowledge of vendors for sourcing custom furniture, custom lighting, fabrics, wallcover, carpet, hardware, specialty finishes, stones, laminates, etc.
  • Research and remain up to date on industry trends to ensure design solutions are innovative and utilize current technology and resources
  • Maintain detailed project files (digital and physical)
  • Assist with managing design staff
  • Other duties as assigned

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Bachelor’s Degree in interior design or architecture
  • 8+ years of experience in design/architecture related field. Hospitality experience preferred
  • Ability to work in Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp. Knowledge of Revit is not required but is a plus
  • Hand drawing/quick sketching skills
  • Knowledge of specification software and ability to write detailed specifications for custom FF&E
  • Knowledge of building codes, accessibility, and technical requirements as they relate to hospitality design and architecture
  • Strong project management skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with strong commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to develop and present design concepts and solutions
  • Must be able to excel in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Schedule flexibility including varied hours or day travel in response to project needs
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and budgets
  • Understanding of industry practices, systems, processes, and activities
