Local materials form the basis of a Sims Patrick Studio renovation in Georgia

It may be a blip on the map in some respects, but Elberton, Georgia has a mighty reputation. Billed as the \"granite capital of the world,\" this small city about 30 miles outside of Athens claims more monuments are made from its native stone than any other granite. For the design team at Atlanta-based Sims Patrick Studio, that assertion was enough to provide a jumping off point for the transformation of a long-vacant, 1925 Tudor-style building owned by the city into the Samuel Elbert Hotel and Conference Center.
