DESCRIPTION: An undercounter refrigeration appliance is neither just a box to keep things cold nor a standby, compact appliance selected on price alone. Undercounter refrigeration provides creative design opportunities to add refrigeration in almost every area of a home. Today ’s undercounter refrigeration options include beverage centers, wine cellars, freezers, ice machines, and beverage dispensers and can offer varying degrees of cooling performance, flexible storage configurations, and a wide range of styles and finishes. This course examines the cooling technologies used in undercounter refrigeration and reviews the essential features to consider before buying undercounter refrigeration. OBJECTIVES: At the end of this program, participants will be able to: 1) identify different types of undercounter refrigeration appliances and describe their size, capacity, and configuration options, 2) discuss the advantages of installing point-of-use refrigeration in outdoor and indoor commercial and residential spaces, 3) describe traditional and nontraditional design options for incorporating undercounter refrigeration throughout a home to suit the daily needs and lifestyle of all members of a household, and 4) discuss the technology options, appliance features, and design factors to consider when selecting undercounter refrigeration.
